Overview
The Government Housing Programme helps eligible Bahamian citizens access affordable homes in approved subdivisions across the islands. Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed in the order received.
Applicants are evaluated based on income, household composition, employment history, and other published criteria. Successful applicants will be matched with available units that best meet their needs.
Who can apply
- Bahamian citizens 18 years of age or older
- Applicants with at least six months of continuous employment
- Households whose income falls within published programme thresholds
- First-time homeowners are given priority consideration
Required documents
- Valid Bahamian passport
- National Insurance Board (NIB) card
- Current job letter (within 30 days)
- Three most recent pay slips
- Two character references
- Proof of residence (utility bill)
- Bank statement (most recent 3 months)
- Marriage certificate or co-applicant ID (if applicable)
